One who is self-confident is not necessarily loud, brash, or reckless. Self-confidence is faith in one's own abilities.

Definition:

Confidence as a psychological quality is related to, but distinct from, self esteem. Confidence may be considered to be made up of a number of components.

Self-confidence is having confidence in oneself when considering a capability. Confidence is generally described as a state of being certain, either that a hypothesis or prediction is correct, or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective given the circumstances. Confidence can be described as a subjective, emotional state of mind, but is also represented statistically as a confidence level within which one may be certain that a hypothesis will either be rejected or deemed plausible. Overconfidence is having unmerited confidence--believing something or someone is capable when they are not. Scientifically, a situation can only be judged after the aim has been achieved or not. Confidence can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, as those without it may fail or not try because they lack it, and those with it may succeed because they have it, rather than because of an innate ability.

The socio-psychological concept of self-confidence relates to self-assuredness in one's personal judgment, ability, power, etc., sometimes manifested excessively.

Lack of self-confidence is called timidness or timidity. Being afraid of failure is a sign of this.

Choking refers to losing confidence, especially self-confidence, just at the moment when it is needed most and doing poorly as a result e.g. in sports. This is found as a common plot device in literature and film, and is usually devised to result in a total alteration of a character's life.

People may have confidence in other people or forces beyond their control. For instance, one might have confidence in the police to protect them, or may have confidence that a sports team will win a game. Faith and Trust are synonyms of confidence when used in this sense.

True self confidence comes from an attitude where you "promise yourself, no matter how difficult the problem life throws at you, that you will try as hard as you can to help yourself. You acknowledge that sometimes your efforts to help yourself may not result in success, as often being properly rewarded is not in your control.

Tips To Build Self Confidence

Self Confidence

Be thankful for what you have. A lot of the times, at the root of insecurity and lack of confidence is a feeling of not having enough of something, whether it's emotional validation, good luck, money, etc. By acknowledging and appreciating what you do have, you can combat the feeling of being incomplete and unsatisfied. Finding that inner peace will do wonders for your confidence.

Be Positive, even if you don't feel positive. Avoid self-pity, or the pity and sympathy of others. Never allow others to make you feel inferior--they can only do so if you let them. If you continue to loathe and belittle yourself, others are going to do and believe likewise. Instead, speak positively about yourself, about your future, and about your progress. Do not be afraid to project your strengths and qualities to others. By doing so, you reinforce those ideas in your mind and encourage your growth in a positive direction.

Look in the mirror and smile. Studies surrounding what's called the "facial feedback theory" suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run. I am gorgeous, huh?

Fake it. Along the same lines of smiling to make yourself feel happy, acting confident might actually make you believe it. Pretend you're a completely confident version of you; go through the motions and see how you feel

Stick to your principles. It might be tough, but if you don't have something you can believe in, you don't have anything. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything. No matter what's happened in your life, you can always lay claim to the fact that from this day forward, you've followed your principles to the best of your ability.

Help others. When you know you're kind to the people around you, and are making a positive difference in other people's lives (even if it's just being kinder to the person who serves you coffee in the morning), you'll know that you are a positive force in the world--which will boost your self confidence. Go volunteer twice a month at an elementary school. Bake something for your neighbor for no reason. Confidence that you have earned is the most long-lasting.

Stop worrying. What worries you today will be forgotten by you and people around you tomorrow. Can you remember what you were so worried about the same day the same time last week? If not, then you should not worry right now. You will not worry about it even one week from now.

WATCH FOLLOWING VIDEO THAT HELP YOU MORE!

Self Esteem

Build self esteem with this six step exercise on how one can improve his/her self esteem. It picks on common problems faced by people in everyday life.

In psychological terms, you suffer from a low self-esteem. By self-esteem I mean what you feel about yourself. In simpler terms, you feel you are a 'no-good' person. Lets begin here. We agree that none of us are equals; we differ from each other in various ways. We have our own negative and positive points. The trick is to be proud of our strengths and work on our weaknesses. Simple as this may sound it is a tough job. The biggest problem is to accept our own shortcomings and then fighting them.

Let's take a 6-step exercise on building our self-esteem.

Step 1: Accept your limitations and others’:
Lets begin from the very beginning. To find solutions, you first need to know what the problem is. To work on your limitations you first need to know what they are. There are two kinds of limitations, one that can be worked on, and one that you can’t do anything about. For example, if one cannot study well because of lack of concentration, it is treatable. Instead if one wants to win a race but is lame there is no solution. Identify your problem and then decide if there’s anything you can do about it. If not, then just let it be. Mere acceptance of the weakness solves half the problem. So accept it, and treat it as normal.
While you are accepting your own limitations accept others' too. Realize the fact there are no whites or blacks, there are only greys. So while someone else may be better than you in a particular aspect, in others you may be better than him.
Step 2: Find your own value
Remember no one on this planet is dispensable. The only issue is ‘do you know what your function is?’ If you don’t, find it! It could be your family, your friends, the society. Somebody surely needs you, work for them, work towards them.
Step 3: Set realistic goals
Set sensible goals. It’s all very fine about owning a company in a year! But hey, lets get practical here. It makes more sense being realistic. If you set unrealistic goals you will only meet failure. That will lead to frustration and further lowering of your self-esteem. Set reachable goals, this will give you a feeling of success and that will help you reach more difficult goals later.
Step 4: Work towards your goals
One thing I heard is true, 'You are not given a wish without the power to fulfill it'. If you have the will, you have the power. All you have to do is make efforts. Dreaming is one thing, being active is another. Here’s an example. Say you want to be a singer but you don’t have the money and contacts for it. What should you do? One way can be to wait for things to happen to you. It is possible. Probably one day someone will notice you and give you the opportunity of your lifetime. The other way is to make efforts towards your wish fulfillment. Start somewhere. Begin by recording your voice on a cassette. Send it to people. And then follow up, DO NOT lose hope. This will work in two ways, one it will lead you somewhere and two it will keep you occupied and you will get a feeling of 'Yeah I’m getting there!' In short be active, set goals and reach them.
Step 5: Set your own standards
Believe in yourself, and set your own standards. Your wife may want you be a millionaire, your parents might want you be a doctor, but what matters the most is YOU. What do YOU want? You want to be a rock singer? Be it. You want to sell your house and stay in a village? Do it. The idea is to make decisions and stick by them. It is true that a certain conduct is needed to stay in this society, barring that do what you feel like. And yes, be proud of it!
Step 6: Love yourself
Last but not the least, love yourself. If you have done something good, reward yourself. Learn to take compliments and be positive. Remember, what you think of yourself will affect what you feel for others. So once you see value in yourself you will be able to see the importance of others in your life. They say charity begins at home. Likewise, love begins with yourself. Remember only you can do it! By eliminating any negative thoughts or ideas that may be holding you back, you will be free to enjoy the self confidence and success you deserve.

When you believe in yourself, others will too!
Why is "Your Power Within!" so effective? By creating direct access to the most powerful part of the mind, the subconscious, you can teach your subconscious mind to automatically act in the ways that best suit your goals, rather than relying on poor habits that you've built up over the years. When you align what you consciously desire with your subconscious motivations...your self confidence, success and possibilities are endless!

Can everyone be hypnotized?
Yes. Have you ever been driving a familiar route home and suddenly arrived at your destination without remembering the last few minutes of the drive? This is one example of our subconscious mind taking over the routine details of life. Our subconscious mind handles most of our day to day activities. That is the subconscious mind's job - to handle the details of life, while our conscious mind handles the more important needs. Most clients are amazed at how quickly they accomplish their desired results. Unlike traditional therapies, Hypnotherapy is able to help you reach your goals without going through years of self-exploration.

When You Are Ready!
Reach your goals faster than ever! You can and will make permanent, positive changes in your personal and professional life. Beverly Hills Hypnosis offers an effective, relaxing, drug-free choice for change.

BUY NOW
